Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Hardin-Simmons' men's soccer team fell 5-2 to the Calvin Knights on Saturday to finish the Cowboy trip to Michigan.
Hardin-Simmons came out strong with two goals in the first half, only four minutes apart in the 19th and 23rd. Jakob Fiol went for goal with an assist from Nana Osei-Debrah to start and Maxwell Winneker added his second of the season unassisted to make a quick 2-0 Cowboy lead.
The night was young for the Knights, however, who snuck one in with just 13 seconds left in the half before coming on in the second, taking the game 5-2 against HSU.
A tough and bitter game saw eight cards handed out along with 19 fouls. Calvin shot 12 times to HSU's five with ten on frame to the Cowboy two on goals. Calvin led four corners to three.
The Cowboys fall to 0-1-1 with the road trip to Michigan in the books. Hardin-Simmons will host Trinity next Friday night at 8 p.m. in Abilene.
