ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's basketball coach Kendra Whitehead and student assistant coach Lainey Burleson each picked honors from Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.

Whitehead was named the small college division women's coach of the year after leading the Cowgirls to the NCAA playoffs for the second straight year. She led HSU to its first NCAA Tournament win since 2006 as part of a 24-4 season.

Student assistant coach Lainey Burleson was named the student assistant coach of the year in the small college division. She is in her third season as a student coach for the Cowgirls.
