Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy soccer team won big 3-0 against the McMurry War Hawks in American Southwest Conference play on Saturday night.
The Cowboys came out strong and scored succeeding goals in the 17
th, 18
th, and 25
th minutes to dash the hopes of McMurry and take the game 3-0.
Jack Sissen scored first with assists from
J.J. Sissen and
Omar Estrada to start the offense.
Maxwell Winneker added a second goal for the Cowboys with another
J.J. Sissen assist in the very next minute to stun the War Hawks at 2-0.
J.J. Sissen took it in himself for the Cowboys' third goal seven minutes later to cap off a 3-0 win to start Hardin-Simmons at 1-0 in the ASC.
The Cowboys led with 17 shots and six shots on goal in the game. McMurry shot six times with three on goal. Hardin-Simmons led with seven corner kicks to two for the opposition.
Carson Null started in goal for the Cowboys and went 55 minutes with two saves before
Reid Applewhite took the mantle and had one save in the final 35 minutes in the combined shutout of McMurry.
The Cowboys improve to 2-4-3 and 1-0 in the American Southwest Conference with more ASC games to come, with a game next Thursday on the road at LeTourneau at 7:30 p.m.
