Biography

One of the top relievers in the conference, he comes into hissenior year with a career record of 12-3 with six career saves. Heowns the HSU record for strikeouts per nine innings with 10.70, issecond in appearances with 61, third in lowest opponent battingaverage with a .215. He ranks ninth in wins and sixth in saves. Hehas been named the ASC pitcher of the week three times and wasnamed to the D3 Team of the Week once in his career. 2012: Appearedin 19 games and had a 1.64 ERA with five saves and a 3-1 record.Opponents hit just .195 against him and he had 55 strikeouts in 33innings of worked. Struck out all four batters he faced in theseason opener against UTD where he recorded a save. Had anothersave the next day against the Comets. Struck out all six battersfrom Arlington Baptist in two innings of work. Earned a win withfour and one-third innings of action against the top-hitting teamin the league, Centenary. Had 11 strikeouts in five and one-thirdinnings of work against Concordia over three appearances and earneda win and a save as the Cowboys beat the eventual ASC championTornados in the regular season series. Had four strikeouts in twoinnings of work against Division II Tarleton State. Namedsecond-team all-ASC. Was a third-team all-West region selection.Named a Coastal Plains League all-star in the summer after going2-1 with an 0.41 ERA over 19 appearances and 22 innings for theFayetteville Swamp Dogs. He also had 10 saves, struck out 36batters and opponents hit just .179. 2011: Went 4-1 with a save asa setup man out of the Cowboy bullpen. Struck out 34 batters in40.1 Worked three scoreless innings against then No. 1 rankedTrinity in a 2-1 Cowboy win. Allowed only 27 hits on the year.Named second-team all-ASC. Played for the Rome Thunderbolts in theNew York Collegiate Baseball League and went 1-1 with seven savesand a 2.01 ERA in 19 appearances. He had 27 strikeouts and allowedonly 11 hits on the year. 2010: Went 5-1 with a 3.19 ERA as afreshman working mainly out of the bullpen. Was named second-teamall-ASC. His only start came against eventual national championMarietta. Worked four innings of one-run relief to earn a winagainst Louisiana College in the ASC Championship Series. HighSchool: Was a standout pitcher for coach Brian Martinez at NewBraunfels Canyon, earning all-district and academic all-statehonors. Personal: Son of Randy and Susan Brunnemann.
