LONGVIEW, Texas -- Hardin-Simmons'
men's basketball team dropped its sixth straight game with an
80-68 loss to LeTourneau in American Southwest Conference action on
Saturday afternoon at the Solheim Center in Longview.
HSU trailed 60-41 with 10:22 to play and Mark Schlott scored eight
straight points for the Cowboys to cut the deficit to 62-49 with
8:58 to play, Schlott hit a lay-up and back-to-back 3-pointers. LU
pushed it back to 18 but the Cowboys responded again and cut it to
70-60 on a Rob Yeatts 3-pointer with 5:24 to play.
The Cowboys cit it to 74-67 on a Steven Wesley stick back with
1:41 to play, but could get no closer. HSU hit 12 3-pointers in the
game, including seven in the second half.
Yeatts led the Cowboys with 20 points, including six 3-pointers.
Schlott had 13 points in the second half and Wesley had 12.
J.J. Rockmore and Dusty Evers had 17 points each for
LeTourneau.
The Cowboys are now 3-9 on the season and 2-6 in ASC action.
LeTourneau improved to 9-4 overall and 7-1 in ASC action. HSU will
host Schreiner on Thursday.
