Cowboys Rout Texas Lutheran

SEGUIN, Texas — Hardin-Simmons' football team scored a touchdown on all six first half possessions and continued its recent surge with a 63-17 win over Texas Lutheran in American Southwest Conference action at Matador Stadium in Seguin.

HSU took the opening kickoff and went 80 yards on nine plays. ZaVious Robbins scored on a 9-yard touchdown pass from Justin Feaster. He had eight catches for 122 yards and a score in the game. TLU added a 34-yard field goal by Allan Cain to make it 7-3 with 7:20 to play in the first. HSU then went 80 yards in seven plays and Feaster hit Labian on a 5-yard touchdown pass.

On the Cowboys' next drive, Feaster hit Labian on a 27-yard touchdown pass as Labian drug a foot in the back of the end zone. Dominique Hardaway had a 2-yard touchdown run for TLU to end the Cowboys streak of 185 straight points without allowing an offensive touchdown.

HSU scored three times in the final 4:37 of the first half on six and five yard TD runs by Feaster and a 33-yard pass from Feaster to Labian to make it 42-10 at the half.

Feaster finished his day at halftime and he went 22-for-26 for 270 yards and four TDs throwing. He also had two touchdowns rushing.

In the second half, Labian scored his fourth receiving touchdown of the game a 5yarder from Taylor Byrd with 8:16 to play in the third quarter. Byrd added a 1-yard TD run early in the fourth quarter to make it 56-10.

Mitchell Bunger hit CkodyBurton on a 15-yard TD pass to make it 56-17 with 11:44 to make. Alex Thomas scored from five yards out at the 6:46 mark to make it 63-17.

Labian tied the school record of Collin McCormick and Todd Bloom with his four touchdown receptions.

HSU finished the game with 604 yards of total offense and held the Bulldogs to 263 yards. Roy Gamboa led the Cowboy defense with eight tackles.

HSU is now 7-1 on the year and 5-1 in ASC action. Texas Lutheran fell to 3-4 overall and to 2-3 in league play. The Cowboys return home next weekend for the Wilford Moore Trophy game against McMurry at Shelton Stadium.
