Box Score LONGVIEW, Texas — Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team moved to 3-1 on the season with a 73-65 American Southwest Conference win over LeTourneau on Monday night at the Solheim Arena in Longview.
The game got off to a slow start, with HSU leading just 10-7 with 10:30 to play in the first half, but HSU heated up thanks to two 3-pointers and a 2-point shot by John Derr and 13 first-half points by Matt Addison. HSU led 33-22 at halftime.
LeTourneau cut the deficit to four with 6:00 to play but the Cowboys executed down the stretch and converted at the foul line when LeTourneau started fouling to stop the clock. HSU was 19-of-24 at the line in the second half.
Matt Addison had 19 points to pace the Cowboys. Derr added 14 points and Casey Riddle had 10, including eight in the final five minutes. Kendrae Carter led LeTourneau with 24 points.
HSU is now 3-1 on the year and 2-0 in ASC action. LeTourneau fell to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in ASC play. The Cowboys return to the Mabee Complex for an ASC game against UT-Dallas on Thursday.
