Box Score ABILENE, Texas — Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team beat Concordia 6-0 in the American Southwest Conference opener for both schools on Friday afternoon at the HSU Soccer Complex.
The Cowgirls put the game away early with two goals in the first 9:33. Katie Kuykendall scored the first goal in the fourth minute off a penalty kick. Devon Howard made it 2-0 when she headed in a cross from Courtney Cramer.
Cramer used her head as well in the 21st minute when she headed home a corner kick from Kuykendall. Vivian Wells made it 4-0 when she paced a shot past Andria Rosales from the top of the box at the 32:32 mark of the first half.
Miranda Bersosa added goals in the 47 and 60th minutes to make it 6-0. Rebecca Roth and Amy Powell shared halves in goal for the Cowgirls and recorded three saves amongst themselves.
HSU outshot Concordia 21-3 and 12-3 on goal as HSU moved its unbeaten streak in American Southwest Conference play to 133 in a row.
The Cowgirls play one of the top teams in the league – Texas-Tyler on Saturday at 2 p.m. HSU is now 3-1 on the year and 1-0 in ASC play. Concordia is 2-3 overall and 0-1 in ASC action.
