Box Score ORANGE, Calif. — Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team lost its first game of the season on Sunday afternoon, falling 2-1 to Chapman in Orange, Calif.
The Cowgirls jumped on the board 9:30 into the match when Katie Haltiwanger scored off a Karissa Olson assist.
HSU had most of the possession in the game and outshot CU 17-3 and 9-2 on target.
Chapman scored on its only two shots on goal. Rosie Kerstetter tied the game in the 27th minute and Olivia Do scored on a long shot in the 52nd minute.
Abby Blunt took the loss in goal allowing both goals. Chapman's Kristin Kleinow had eight saves in the win.
HSU is now 2-1 on the year and Chapman improved to 4-1.
The Cowgirls open their home slate on Friday against Mary Hardin-Baylor at 4 p.m. in a non-conference game.
