ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's tennis team beat Austin College 6-3 on Saturday morning in the first women's match at the new Streich Tennis Center on the HSU campus.
The Cowgirls rolled through the three doubles matches and it ended up being the difference in the match. Jenna and Hannah Smith won 8-2 at No. 1, Shayne Cook and Michaela Ellison won 8-1 at No. 2 and Jasmine Briant and Megan Carlson teamed for an 8-2 win at No. 3.
The teams' split the six singles matches. Jenna Smith won 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2, Briant won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 and Carlson won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
The Cowgirls are now 2-2 on the year and Austin College fell to 0-1. The Cowgirls will play at Schreiner and Texas Lutheran next weekend.
