Cowboys Fall At No. 2 Mary Hardin-Baylor

ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' football team fell 26-0 to No. 2 Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday evening at Crusader Stadium in Belton.

It snapped a streak of 256 straight games with a touchdown.

The Cru scored on the first two drives of the game. DeNerian Thomas capped off both drives with short touchdown runs.

The Cowboy defense held strong and forced three turnovers, all three coming in the red zone. The game stayed 13-0 until midway through the third quarter when Jase Hammack scored on an 8-yard run. Thomas added his third touchdown of the game with 7:13 to play.

HSU was held to 222 yards and playing without leading rusher Jaquan Hemphill the Cowboys only had 71 yards rushing.

Chris Miller led the Cowboy defense with a career-best 16 tackles.

HSU is now 4-1 overall and returns to Abilene for Homecoming next Saturday at 1 p.m. against Sul Ross State.
