Box Score ROUND ROCK, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team defeated the Concordia (TX) Tornados 3-0 in American Southwest conference action on Thursday night.
The Tornados came in tonight at second in the ASC at 6-1 with the Cowgirls leading the conference with a little more than a week left in the regular season at 7-0.
The seniors continued to show out for the Cowgirls starting with Madelyn Dowell scoring to take the lead in the 17th minute thanks to a Rachel Bean assist. Dowell has now scored in three straight games for the Cowgirls.
Freshman Gabby Aviles added to the Cowgirl advantage in the 54th minute with a Mercy Mummert assist to make it 2-0 HSU. Kaylee Maddox got the ball to Michaela Sabrsula to score in the 59th to make it a 3-0 lead for the Cowgirl victory.
The Cowgirls cranked out 13 shots with seven on goal in the match. Concordia had seven shots with one on goal in the game. The Cowgirls had the edge with four corner kicks to two for the Tornados.
Kendall Dowling had the start for the Cowgirls in goal and had one save in the shutout win. The Tornado keeper was Lora Tresco who collected four saves in the game.
The Cowgirls remain unbeaten in the ASC at 8-0 and are 11-2 on the year. Concordia drops to 8-6-1 and 6-2 in the conference. The Cowgirls will take on Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday at 5 p.m. for another battle of top-ASC teams.
