Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team advanced to the American Southwest Conference semifinal game after winning 4-0 against the Texas-Dallas Comets on Tuesday night at the HSU Soccer Complex.
In the ninth minute, Gabby Aviles ran a ball into the defense and dished it to Kaylee Maddox who scored to give the Cowgirls a 1-0 lead.
Aviles followed up for the Cowgirls in the 24th minute wit ha goal on her own, taking the lead up to 2-0. Aviles opened second half with another goal, this time from a Caroline Pool assist, to make it 3-0 Hardin-Simmons in the 48th minute.
Senior Randie Dennison finished the night off for HSU with a goal in the bottom corner in the 76th minute, giving the Cowgirls a 4-0 win over the Comets. With a win in the first round of the ASC tournament, the Cowgirls will play on Friday at 5 p.m. against McMurry in the ASC semifinal.
The Cowgirls led with 19 shots and eight on goal while Texas-Dallas had six shots and two on goal. The Cowgirls had two corners in the match.
Kendall Dowling had the win in goal for the Cowgirls with two saves. The Comets started Jade Press in goal who had four saves in the loss.
The Cowgirls improve to 13-3 on the year and will move on to the second round of the ASC tournament Friday night at the HSU Soccer Complex in Abilene against McMurry.
