Box Score ROUND ROCK, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team won 2-0 against Concordia (Texas) on Friday night in American Southwest Conference play.
In the 12th minute, the Cowgirls had a throw in that senior Rachel Bean crossed into senior Elly Green, who put the boot on it to take the lead 1-0.
The Cowgirls improved the lead to 2-0 in the 59th minute after Randie Dennison and Kaylee Maddox worked to get Caroline Pool the ball for goal. It was the freshman Pool's first Cowgirl goal.
The Cowgirls led with 17 shots to four from the Tornados. Of those, HSU put seven on frame and Concordia has three shots on goal. The Cowgirls had seven corners to none for Concordia.
Haley Foley started in goal for the Cowgirls and had a save in the first half. Kayla Gable came in to finish the game and recorded two saves in the second half of play.
The Concordia keeper was Elizabeth Jones, and she had five saves in the 90 minutes.
The Cowgirl soccer team moves to 3-0-1 and 3-0-1 in the conference. Concordia fall to 0-4-1 and 0-4 in ASC play. The HSU soccer teams will be back at the HSU Soccer Complex on Grape Street in Abilene next Saturday, March 20 for Cowgirl Senior Night to take on Sul Ross at 5 p.m.
