ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's tennis team won 8-1 in a dual match against Concordia on Friday in American Southwest Conference play at the Streich Tennis Center in Abilene.
Kaitlyn Hathorn won No. 1 singles 7-5, 6-0 over Isabella Wiik. Landry Laywell was at No. 2 singles and got the Cowgirl win 6-2, 6-0 against Claire Austin.
Lauren Schaeffer defeated Alejandra Rueda at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-0. Priscilla Schimming won No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-0 versus Natalia Goodman.
McKenna Bryan rounded out the Cowgirl singles with a win at No. 6 defeating Emily Hines 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles, the No. 1 team of Hathorn and Schaeffer won 8-1 against Wiik and Goodman. At No. 2 the Cowgirls had Laywell and Schimming win 8-5 over Austin and Stevens.
The No. 3 doubles team of Brianne Dumas and Bryan won 8-0 against Rueda and Hines.
The Cowgirl tennis team improves to 4-5 in the spring and will face Sul Ross State in Alpine next Saturday at 1 p.m.
