Box Score RICHARDSON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team advanced to the American Southwest Conference Championship game with a 3-0 win over East Texas Baptist in the semifinal contest on Thursday evening at the UTD Soccer Complex in Richardson.
The Cowgirls wasted no time getting on the board as Michaela Sabrsula scored 2:11 into the game. It was her first goal of the season.
Madelyn Dowell gave the Cowgirls a 2-0 lead when Baylee Ford found Dowell for her third goal of the season. It was the 15th goal of Dowell's career.
Casady Jenkins gave the Cowgirls a 3-0 lead in the 75th minute when she hammered home a rebound off an Elly Green shot. It was also her first goal of the season.
HSU outshot the Tigers 14-12 in the contest and had a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal.
Kayla Gable and Haley Foley each played a half in goal for the Cowgirls.
HSU is now 7-0-1 on the year and East Texas Baptist closes the season with a record of 6-2-2.
The Cowgirls will be looking for their 18th straight American Southwest Conference title on Saturday at 3 p.m. at UTD. HSU will play the winner of the second semifinal between UT Dallas and Mary Hardin-Baylor, which is being played later this evening.
