ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's tennis team advanced to the American Southwest Conference Championship match with a 5-0 win over East Texas Baptist at Abilene Christian on Friday afternoon.

The Cowgirls took control by winning all three doubles matches. Kaitlyn Hathorn and Lauren Schaeffer won 8-6 at No. 1, Landry Laywell and Priscilla Schimming won 8-2 at No. 2 and Brianne Dumas and McKenna Bryan won 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.

HSU won the first set in five of six singles matches. Schaeffer and Bryan won 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-0 at No, 3 and No, 6 singles to wrap up the match.

HSU is now 9-6 on the year and ETBU ends the year with a record of 10-5.

The Cowgirls will play UT Dallas on Saturday at 11 a.m. for the championship. Admission is free and the match will be played at HSU's Streich Tennis Center.
