Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team won 6-0 defeating the Wisconsin-Stevens Point Pointers on Saturday night playing at the HSU Soccer Complex.
Caroline Pool had an immaculate night, showing off with three goals in the first half and adding two assists in the game. Two great assists from Emma Thompson and Michaela Sabrsula led to the first Pool goal back post in the 23rd minute.
Hayden Abor beat her man for a dish back to Pool for the second Cowgirl goal in the 24th minute. Madelyn Dowell dropped off an assist to Pool who finished it from range for the hat trick making it 3-0 Cowgirls at 33 minutes.
Pool showed off her finesse with a pop shot over the defense to a finishing Skyler Devore for goal in the 73rd minute. Thompson scored, one on one with the keeper, after a through ball from Pool in the 77th minute.
Journie Long got her second goal of the season on a great header after a well-placed ball in from Gabby Aviles to finish it 6-0 for the Cowgirls in the 87th minute.
The Cowgirls shot 26 times with 14 on the frame and finished with seven assists on the night. The Pointers had three shots in the game with two on goal. The Cowgirls owned the corner battle ten to three to Stevens Point.
Haley Foley had two nice saves in the win at keeper. She gave way to Kendall Dowling who finished the last 16 minutes in the pipes for HSU. The Pointer goalie was Miranda Nieman who had seven great saves in the loss.
The Cowgirls are now 3-2 on the season and will open up American Southwest Conference play on the road against Belhaven this Thursday starting at 5 p.m. in Jackson, Miss.
