Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's soccer team went up 5-1 for a win against the ETBU Tigers in American Southwest Conference play on Thursday night.
Jenna Kirk started the scoring for HSU with her third goal of the season off a corner from Kaylee Maddox in the 12th minute. Gabby Aviles also went for her third Cowgirl goal this year in the 15th minute thanks to Aurora Arevalo and Kaylen McNatt assists.
Maddox played a ball down the field to Randie Dennison, who scored her fourth goal of the year to make it 3-0 Cowgirls in the 30th minute. Dennison crossed a ball in to Lizette Ramirez who banked one off the back of a defender to score the fourth Cowgirl goal of the first half.
ETBU would score before halftime to pull it to a 4-1 lead for Hardin-Simmons. In the early goings of the second, Emma Thompson found space behind the backline of the Tigers to score the fifth Cowgirl goal with an assist from Aviles in the 64th minute, making it a 5-1 Cowgirl win Thursday.
The Cowgirls had 19 shots with 11 on frame to lead ETBU with eight shots and five on goal. Hardin-Simmons led with eight corners to none.
Cowgirl senior keeper Haley Foley had four saves in the win on Thursday. Addison Funk totaled five saves in full time for the Tigers.
The Cowgirls improve to 6-1-1 and 2-0 in the ASC with ETBU dropping to 6-5-1 and 0-3 in conference play. The Cowgirls will be back on Grape Street Saturday night to host LeTourneau in another ASC match at 5 p.m.
