RICHARDSON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball fell 61-60 at UT Dallas on Thursday night in Richardson in American Southwest Conference action.

HSU trailed 42-30 early in the second half when Chase Cobb hit a pair of 3-pointers, Jordyn Vicente hit a triple and Neal Chambliss hit a 3-point play and Vicente a jumper in a 14-0 run to give the Cowboys a 44-42 lead with just under 12 minutes to play.

From there on out the teams went back and forth. Steven Quinn's driving layup with :17 to play gave HSU a 60-59 lead. UTD then went down and Will Issac was fouled with :05 to play and he hit both free throws and the Cowboys didn't get off a final shot.

In the first half, the Cowboys had 13 turnovers and trailed 30-23 at halftime despite holding the Comets to 35.5 percent shooting.

The Cowboys finished the night shooting 46.2 percent but were doomed by 24 turnovers, including on the last possession of the game.

Chambliss led the Cowboys with 13 points, Cobb had 11 and Vicente and Quinn added 10 each. Kameron Pruitt had 24 points and 10 rebounds for the Comets.

HSU I now 14-6 on the year and 10-5 in league play and the Comets moved into a tie with the Cowboys as they are now 14-6 overall and 10-5 and would hold any tiebreakers over HSU.

The Cowboys return to action on Saturday at LeTourneau.
