ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' women's tennis team hosted the East Texas Baptist Tigers for an 8-1 win in a non-conference match on Saturday at the Streich Tennis Center in Abilene.

Jacy Smith and Lauren Schaeffer defeated the first doubles team of the Tigers 8-4. Laurel Coleman and Jonnah Smith went up for an 8-6 win in the second doubles match against ETBU. Brianne Dumas and Skylar Rust finished the third doubles match 8-2 in a win for the Cowgirls.

Jacy Smith took down the top singles match with a 6-1, 6-1 win for Hardin-Simmons. Coleman went 7-5, 6-0 to bring home the second singles match for the Cowgirls.

Schaeffer defeated the third singles opponent for the Cowgirls with a 6-1, 6-2 win and Rust won 6-0, 6-1 in the fourth singles match. Jonnah Smith had a split set 6-3, 2-6, (10-7) to come out with the final Cowgirl win of the day. 

The Cowgirls are now 4-4 on the season and will play next on March 13 in Orlando on a spring break trip against Occidental starting at 9 a.m. central time.
