CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl softball team opened American Southwest Conference play with a double header sweep of the Ozarks Eagles on the road Saturday.

The Cowgirls took game one 5-2 against the Eagles. Alex Guillory singled home the first run and the Cowgirls scored on a wild pitch to make a 2-0 lead. The Eagles came back to tie the game at 2-2 in the fourth.

Hardin-Simmons took back the lead in the fifth scoring on a wild pitch 3-2. Abbey Tarr hit a sac fly to score another to lead 4-2 after five innings. Lindsey Ratcliffe doubled home a run in the seventh to wrap up the 5-2 Cowgirl win.

Haven Williams pitched five innings in the win with four strikeouts. Kylie Ruiz added a save in two innings for HSU. Guillory led the Cowgirls with two hits offensively and an RBI.

Kaylen Washington started game two and threw a four-hit game allowing one run in five innings with two strikeouts in the win. The Cowgirls turned it up on offense with an 11-1 rout of the Eagles through five innings.

Ratcliffe scored two Cowgirl runs with a single in the second and Kristen McMillan drove in two more for a 4-0 lead. Grace Fleitman added an RBI single in the third to make it 5-0.

Sarah Diessner had an RBI to make it 6-0 and Madison Mayhew drove in another run for a 7-0 lead in the fourth.

Ratcliffe got two more RBIs in the fifth and Ella Salinas hit a sac fly to make it 10-0. Mayhew legged out an infield single to drive in another run and the Cowgirls won the game by a score of 11-1.

Ratcliffe had four RBIs on two hits and Mayhew led with three hits for the Cowgirls. Grace Thompson added two steals on the bases for the Cowgirls in the win.

The Cowgirls improve to 11-1 and 2-0 in ASC play while Ozarks falls to 3-7 and 0-2 in the conference. The series wraps up Sunday with the final game of three at 11 a.m.
