ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's tennis team beat Austin College 7-2 in the first match at the new Streich Tennis Center on Saturday morning in Abilene.
HSU took the early lead with a sweep of doubles.
Alex Hunt and
Andrew Eurek won 9-7 at No. 1 doubles.
Chandler Livingston and Kennan Nash rolled 8-4 at No. 2 doubles and B,J. Farmakis and
Frankie Sanchez completed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win at No. 3.
Freshman
Alex Hunt continued his impressive start to the season with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles.
Ben Gutierrez won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 singles and
Andrew Eurek and
Michael Boyd won three-setters with third-set pro set wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles respectively.
The Cowboys are now 3-1 on the year and will play at Schreiner and Texas Lutheran next weekend.
