SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy tennis team continued on Friday at the ITA regional hosted at Trinity.
 
Two Cowboys began Friday in the A singles main draw. Justus Petersilie won 6-1, 2-6, (10-8) over Chase Rogers (LETU) and later fell 6-2, 6-7(4), 7-6(7) against Ethan Ruppanner (Trinity).
 
Luke Cantu defeated Sebastian Herrera (Southwestern) 6-1, 3-6, (10-6) to move on before falling to Steven Scholtz (CTX) 6-1, 6-4.
 
Three Cowboys continued in the A bracket consolation. Brandon Curiel lost to Diego Cromeens (CTX) 6-3, 6-3. Zach Fowler went down 6-4, 6-1 to Travis Rafferty (Southwestern).
 
Payne Smith defeated Joaquin Fernandes (UMHB) 6-3, 7-5 and advanced on a bye and then won 6-2, 6-4 against Cashton Herrera (TLU) to head to the quarterfinal of A consolation.
 
Four Cowboys opened the ITAs in the B singles bracket. Jose Torrez went down 7-6(4), 7-6(10) with tough tiebreakers against Orren Ladner (ETBU).
 
Jameson Sorrell won 6-4, 3-6, (10-3) playing Jake Riggs (CTX) and later lost 6-2, 7-6(5) against Landon Ferree (HPU).
 
Jordan Oberbillig won his first B singles match 6-1, 6-2 against Alejandro Barrero (LETU) and then fell 1-6, 6-1, (10-3) to Zach Couch (ETBU).
 
Dylan Haught also won the opening match 6-0, 6-2 for the Cowboys playing Cole Reed (Schreiner) before losing to Rishi Rajesh (Southwestern) 6-4, 6-0.
 
Doubles action continued in the A bracket for Fowler and Smith with an 8-6 loss against Flores and Kaczmarczyk (Trinity).
 
Cowboy doubles began in the B bracket with Torrez and Oberbillig taking on Aguero and Cannon (HPU) for an 8-5 win.
 
The duo of Curiel and Sorrell went for another win 8-4 against Dubec and Lengacher (ETBU) as well.
 
The ITA regional continues Saturday in San Antonio.
