Biography

Returns for a rare sixth season after ashoulder injury ended his senior season early. He was named thepreseason ASC offensive player of the year for the second straightyear and was named a second-team preseason All-American byD3football.com. Is one of two players on the team that have alreadyearned four letters. 2009: Completed 26-of-32 passes for 284 yardsand four touchdowns and he also ran for 64 yards and two moretouchdowns in a comeback win over Whitworth. He earned ASC playerof the week and D3football.com team of the week honors for hisperformance. He then went 15-of-19 with a touchdown rushing andpassing in a loss at Linfield. That is the game he injured hisshoulder. He tried to come in and lead a fourth-quarter rallyagainst Louisiana College but went an uncharacteristic 5-for-17 andshut it down for the year after that game. Named academic all-ASCfor the fourth time. 2008: Was named the American SouthwestConference player of the year after throwing for 3023 yard and 31touchdowns and rushing for 221 yards and eight more touchdowns. Hadfive 300-yard passing games to become the HSU leader in career300-yard games with nine. Threw for 306 yards and four touchdownsin the playoff loss at Mary Hardin-Baylor. Had five touchdownpasses at Texas Lutheran. Had two or more touchdown passes in 10 ofthe 11 games. Named a Gagliardi finalist. 2007: Started the seasonthird on the depth chart, but quickly took over the top job. Hestarted the last nine games of the season and had one of the bestseasons ever by a Cowboy quarterback. Threw for 2,946 yards and 30touchdowns. Had four 300-yard passing efforts, including 495against Mississippi College. That was the third best game in schoolhistory. He was on the d3football.com team of the week and ASCplayer of the week after that performance. Had at least one TD passin every game and had six games with three or more touchdowns. Hadfive touchdown passes and 324 yards passing against Sul Ross State.Had five touchdown passes in the Mississippi College. Had sixrushing touchdowns on the year. Was named second-team all-ASC.Named academic All-ASC. 2006: Was a backup quarterback andcompleted 9-of-13 passes for 100 yards and a touchdown. Averaged35.4 yards on 28 punts. 2005: Was a redshirt at North Texas. HighSchool: Had a very successful career at Glen Rose High School,where he was twice an all-district quarterback and punter.
