Zach Pickelman helped turn the Hardin-Simmons men’s basketball team into one of the top teams in the American Southwest Conference. He was a four-year starter, starting 99 of the 105 games he played in. As a sophomore, he led the team that became the first to make the ASC tournament in school history. As a senior, he helped lead the team to the ASC Championship game. After playing, he served two seasons as a Graduate Assistant and seven years as the lead Assistant. He helped the Cowboys to the ASC tournament eight times in his 13-year involvement with the HSU program.
Pickelman ranks third in the school’s non-scholarship era in scoring with 1,616 points. He was named the ASC MVP and an all-American as a senior, was a four-time All-ASC West division selection, and a three-time academic all-ASC performer. He shot 45% from 3-point range as a senior, which lead the conference. Zach was a 41% 3-point and an 82% free throw shooter for his career.
